Elissa was born with spina bifida, and as a result has limited sensation in her upper legs and none in her lower legs. She began skiing socially at a young age with her family and began competing in 2004. She currently holds the Australian Records for Slalom, Trick and Jump. At her last world titles in 2007 she came 2nd in Jump and came 3rd Overall for her division. Out of the water, Elissa is studying Social Work at university and enjoys socializing and her sport.
